After reading my last blog post you're probably coming to the conclusion "oh what a Liberal son-of a bitch"
Well, you're wrong. I am a Libertarian. I'm not a "Conservative Libertarian" like Glenn Beck and Mancow are.
I am a born-again Christian. I have my morals. But I am also a socially liberal individual. I believe in civil liberties, gay rights, and all that.
I love America but I am not "proud to be American" because the bible says "pride" is a sin. I am also not very proud of some of the stuff my government has done over the past 10 years.
You may happen to find me right smack dab in the middle of the left and the right. I see huge flaws in both sides and I also see the similarities.
This blog however, is not about politics. Radio, Media, and current events (when applicable) is what this blog is about. Enjoy!

Not to get all political like or nothing, but Liberarian is almost synonymous with right wing now. I would consider myself a left-libertarian but I tend not to say it anymore, since it's starting to sound like an oxymoron with all the right wing libertarians hijacking the idea and the party.
ReplyDeletePride isn't just a sin, it's generally unwarranted; why be proud of something you didn't do, like the historical events in your nation's past, or didn't choose, like the nation of your birth, or your race or sexual orientation. I think that, if you've actually done something commendable, a little self-pride is a good thing, motivating you to work hard again and generally making you feel good about your achievements; being proud of just being what you were born as is plain arrogance, and plain annoying. I think national pride should be replaced with gratitude for being born in such a rich nation, instead of somewhere like North Korea, if people have to feel anything about being born where they were.
I don't want to bring it up but a quick google search tells me the anti-pride verses are mostly found in the old testement (Leviticus 26:18 "I will break the pride of your power" Isaiah 2:11 "the pride of men shall be humbled" Proverbs 29:23 "A man's pride will bring him low" Proverbs 8:13 "Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.") There are a lot of other Old Testement verses that are said to be superseded since Jesus came, so maybe the Pride rules have changed? The new testement seems to be OK with pride according to Google (2 Corinthians 7:1-4, I have great confidence in you; "I have great pride in you" 2 Corinthians 5:12 "We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to be proud of us"). I might be taking these verses out of context, I just googled them after all, but Pride might not be a sin all the time.
It's a shame that the center between the left and right in America is far to the right of the center in England, and you seem to be in the English-style center from what I've seen.
Christian doesn't imply social con, though a lot of people sadly think it does nowdays :(
Hope to see more radio-related posts, I might learn something from them and find some tunes to listen to :D
