Great Tracks of this decade (2000 and 2001)

Obviously in my personal opinion, this decade of music was far from as good as the decades that proceeded it. But it had its ups, especially in the early half of the decade. here's some of those songs.

2000 and 2001
Three Doors Down - Kryptonite (Their breakout) '00
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPU8OAjjS4k

Three Doors Down - Be Like That '01 (Great slow rock track. It was a hit in the late summer and fall of 2001. This was a major period of change for both the country and the music world, and honestly this song is just plain good)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHdblBk2lhA&translated=1

3LW - No More (Baby I'm A Do Right) '01 (One of the few artists I've ever seen live. They have great harmony in this song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-9gTnSS7cU

Aaliyah - We Need A Resolution '01 (She passed away not long after in August of 2001. We lost a good artist, but her songs live on. Heavily immitated, never replaced)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQPvgHEMCFs

Adema - The Way You Like It '01 (This nu metal I guess you could call it stands out as catchy and hard at the same time.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYTwIZslZXo

Aerosmith - Jaded '01 (proving that Aerosmith had some staying power. Also one of their best songs in my opinion)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=705LEH3j2g0&translated=1

American Hi-Fi - Flavor Of The Weak '01 (Was their only big hit on CHR. Had a funny 80s themed opening. The intro on the radio version is amazing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUfMa3C1z14

Barenaked Ladies - Pinch Me '00 (Classic BNL)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGPfrQ5NHfs

Basement Jaxx - Where's Your Head At? '01 (The video definately overshadowed the song. Modern dance music at its best)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4hFwJm41h4

Blink 182 - Stay Together For The Kids '01 (Different from the typical Blink 182. In my opinion a very powerful song from the fall-winter 2001. Definately a change from the other singles released from the album, humorously titled "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cs21Jkopqg

Bon Jovi - Thank You For Loving Me '00 (One of those "Forgotton favorites")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESOVrc4K3CQ

Britney Spears - Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know '01 last single from Oops I Did It Again in early 2001. Great ballad, well forgotton about, the video was deemed "extreme" but later on in the year she would overtop even this)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGoM7atmJJA

Bubba Sparxxx - Ugly '01 (He was most popular in 2006, but this was far superior musically and when it comes to album sales, this was his highest selling)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8bYitCe0zM

Cake - Short Skirt, Long Jacket '01 (Another song where the video overshadowed the song.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7aDstrDMf0

The Calling - Wherever You Will Go '01-'02 (This song came out first in the summer of 2001 but peaked in 2002. One of the most played songs of the decade, but still an amazing song and definately a 1 hit wonder wonder.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw_4CCe-AwA

City High - What Would You Do and Caramel '01-'02 (First we had "What Would You Do" which consisted of a powerful message and amazing harmony. Caramel was just a flat out great song with a great beat and a great chorus and hook.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Abc_TyiAeyg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4vl-HPensw

Coldplay - Trouble '01 (Winter 2001 was when this song came out. It was from their first album, following the minor hit "Yellow". I Still consider this to be some of their best work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHg-PhseKOQ&feature=fvst

Creed - Higher '00 (Their best. Period)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea_iZ3NfwSU

Creed - Bullets '01 (This song was off their big selling album Weathered. The thing about this compared to other Creed songs, a much darker subject and a much harder song. Among their best)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtCHFLMRX78

Daft Punk - One More Time '01
Daft Punk - Digital Love '01
Both of these songs are just flat out amazing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH-0s0pRleg&translated=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjli3hj0ZkM

Darude - Sandstorm '01 (This song, like Daft Punk helped bring modern dance music to the mainstream. Amazing track)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSYxT9GM0fQ

Dave Navarro - Rexall '01 (Yes the guy from Jane's Addiction. He did a solo project in the summer of 2001 and this was the one song that got airplay, and its amazing. One hit solo wonder maybe?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpfDARU75FI

Deftones - Change (In The House Of Flies) '00 (Different.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEKIDQmKbfk

Eric Sermon/Marvin Gaye - Music '01 (This R&B/Rap track samples Marvin Gaye. This is just one of those great songs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fle-zebSXNc

Eve/Gwen Stefani - Let Me Blow Ya Mind '01 (First time we've seen Gwen outside of her typical No Doubt sound along with a great music video and beat)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wDWGF4-bYM

Eve 6 - Here's To The Night (Great track)

Evan & Jaron - Crazy For This Girl '01
Evan & Jaron - The Distance '01
Amazing songs period.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXWjnthSRkA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP4tOoSCQMg

Gorillaz (ALL from the 2001 self titled album. This "supergroup" as one would say puts out some of the most amazing alternative, pop and alternative hip-hop and dance. The entire album has something for everybody. These are among my favorites)

Clint Eastwood

39Bgh9w

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qgRE_9cwKI

Incubus - Nice To Know You '01
Incubus - Warning '01

India.Arie - Video '01 (This song is great start to finish. It was first heard in the spring of 2001, but didn't get onto regular CHR radio until 2002)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIZFnkwpL_0

Isley Brothers & R. Kelly - Contagious '01 (Just listen and watch. Amazing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL4FHZUvv3Y

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJgivvdLoAM

Jockless Los Angeles

What's with the jockless automation on Los Angeles' 2 CHR stations KIIS and Amp Radio? Yes I know its 5AM on a Saturday but that doesn't mean nobody in market #2 is listening.

Why doesn't John Ivey throw on his premium choice programming overnight if he's not going to have anybody on the air? At least there's someone talking, even WKSC Chicago revoked jockless automation for this programming.

As for Amp Radio, no suprise there. Most of CBS Radio's new stations Fresh, Amp, etc run jockless for extended periods of time.

I guess voice tracking is even a dying breed.

Sony HD Radio XDR-S10HDiP Review

This is the younger brother of the Sony XDR-S3HD which came out in 2007. I've tried and used at least 7 different HD Radios since March of 2006 and I have found Sony's HD Radio's to have the best reception, selectivity and overall quality.
This radio first arrived last year, and is now the most commonly available Sony home HD recievers.
In February 2008 I got an XDR-S3HD and was very pleased with the simplicity and great FM HD reception. The left speaker went bye bye this past week and its out of warrenty. The replacement cost for a refurbished one? $140. The cost of a BRAND NEW XDR-S10HDiP? $159 so here I am.
There's similarities and differences. The XDR-S3HD has a wooden feel. This radio is a typical plastic black radio.
This radio has an iPOD dock with ITunes tagging, the XDR-S3HD does not.
The most ANNOYING and RIDICULOUS part of the XDR-S10HDiP is the fact that it has no headphone jack, no output connection. So if you want to connect it to something else, you're out of luck. You can only listen thru the speakers. This is unlike every other HD Radio I have seen.
The FM reception is as good as its older brother, the AM reception however is a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT and the biggest advance in AM reception in all of the 7 HD radios I have tried. Its good. Both analog and HD AM reception is great.
Other HD radios are only able to pick up the strongest analog and digital AM stations.
Overall, if you want an Ipod dock, an HD Radio with good selectivity and sensitivity for both AM and FM, or a pair of speakers (it has a line in jack) this is highly recommended.
The biggest con on this one is the lack of an output or headphone jack which again is ridiculous and completely stupid on Sony's part.

Ridiculous music

Listening to some of the music being released to Top-40 radio today, I'm finding a good majority of it to be completely ridiculous and lacking in creativity.

2009 had some interesting and somewhat different rounds of new pop music, whether it was Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas with "Meet Me Halfway" with a retro pop sound to it, or Katy Perry, Kid Cudi, Kings Of Leon and Owl City.

New releases this past week from past huge artists such as Timbaland featuring Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Lopez are just plain ridiculous both lyrically and musically.
